Getting Annoyed with the Bots

This might be a bit hypocritical of me to say as a part human part robot but I write my ideas for humans to consume and not for the bots.

Seeing that most of my bandwidth is getting served to the soulless bots that scour the internet for fresh new content to slurp up is making me sadder, especially when I see they don’t respect well established internet conventions of common etiquette (remember robots.txt anyone?)

Spaced Repetition System or SRS as I’ll call it from now on is a system designed to help you learn stuff and improve your recall abilities using less reviews over a period of time.

How does it work?

Basically, when using SRS, the system tries to figure out when you are the most likely to forget a piece of information and then it tests you on that information before you forget it. This makes it better since you don’t neccessarily need to review something every day if you will forget it only in a week or more. Each time you review something, you need to grade your recall ability - which lets the SRS figure out how hard it was for you to recall and adjust the next interval accordingly.

Upgrading Your Tools

I really like learning about new tools that might do somethings differently, and sometimes they might even make your workflow easier.

As an example, I used to always host my websites with either Nginx or Apache but recently I read about Caddy and the installation was super simple.

It basically just works and gets the HTTPS certificates for me instead of using Let’s Encrypt manually with certbot.
